The key to a great wardrobe that works hard for your money is actually to buy less & wear more.
You have edited your wardrobe bu what now?
We focus on filling in any gaps in your collection. When you have been trying on clothes at home you will have thought to yourself at some point “What I could really do with to make this outfit work for me, is X”. We need to find X for you.
That could mean the perfect white T-shirt, not too opaque, long enough in the body, washes well. Or it could mean a break from your normal. If you always wear trousers, lets consider a skirt or dress. If you always wear neutrals, lets pop in a little bit of colour.
Colour brings personality to your look. You could wear a completely beige outfit but do remember to throw in a bright handbag or a killer pair of statement heels to make the look your own.
Don’t impulse buy. Add things to online carts and then sit on them for a couple of days. Do you really think you will wear that item and justify its cost per wear? Your clothes and your money need to work hard for you. Try not to buy something on a whim.
Avoid short lived trends and fast fashion as much as possible. Trends come and go, thats why fast fashion has such a high turnover of stock, they feed off the every changing ‘need it now’ mentality.
What we want to work on, is your style. Anyone can buy fashionable items with the right budget, what we want to do is build you a wardrobe of items that all go together, taking the stress out of getting ready. We want to buy items that will stand the test of time and of persistent wear, too.
Be a savvy shopper. Let’s face it 99% of retailers have a sale at some point in the year. Only buy something full price IF you know you will wear it to death BEFORE the seasonal sales come around again. If not, just hang on and buy it in the sale.
Got your eye on a designer piece? Shop smarter by checking out discount retailers like outnet.com, sister brand to Net-A-Porter. There you can find super brands on sale at up to 80% off. If you love something from a store like Hermes or Louis Vuitton that don’t have seasonal sales, keep an eye vestiaire.com there’s a high chance someone will be selling your ideal piece at some point, for a fraction of the recommended retail price.
Finally, only buy what you really, really love. If it makes your heart sing, then its usually worthy of a place in your wardrobe.
TOP TIP: 5 DAYS 5 WAYS
Every item in your wardrobe needs to work with 5 other things you already own.
The only exception to this rule are evening dresses but even then, they need to go with multiple bag & shoes combos and can be given a new look entirely by adding a knit or classic white shirt.
